Analytical technology and instrument is the requisite technical means for human to understand the nature, material composition and changes, moreover, it is an extension and development of human’s sensation. Since 100 years, it has been accompanied by technological and social development, and its development has promoted the progress of science and technology.

Skyray Academy Overview

Skyray Academy of Analytical and Measuring Instruments was formally established after half year’s meticulous planning, preparation, absorbing large numbers of talents and capital investment; it was formerly known as research and development department. Its main responsibilities are: to speed up the research and development of analytical instruments in spectra, chromatography and mass spectra fields, to deepen the application of analytical instruments in environmental protection and resources, to digest the latest scientific and technological achievements, to realize self-innovation and self-design, and strive to command the critical core technology, and then form a group of instrument brands completely with independent intellectual properties in China.

Dr. Richard Liu, President of Skyray Instrument, and is the President of Skyray Academy of Analytical and Measuring Instruments as well. Dr. Liu was graduated from Tsinghua University, nuclear physics. Since graduation, he has engaged in the research and development of analytical and measuring instruments, especially X-ray fluorescence spectrometer. Skyray Instrument, set up by Dr. Liu many years ago, has been ranking as the leading one in domestic analytical and measuring instruments after sixteen years of rapid development. The products of Skyray Instrument has been sold well in more than 50 countries and districts in the world, and enjoying higher reputation in the world instrument industries. More than 10 pcs of his papers of rich academic experience and prominent research ability have been published in domestic and foreign journals. Dr. Liu has always served as chief designer of Skyray Instrument, besides, he is the vice president of Dr. Association, Kunshan, Jiangsu currently, director of China Instruments & Meters Society, Analytical Instrument Association, winner of The First Science and Technology Contribution Prize and 2008 Jiangsu Province young and middle-aged expert with outstanding contributions.

Subordinate Departments

Skyray Academy of Analytical and Measuring Instruments consist of three centers, namely Research Centre of Analytical Instruments, Physical and Chemical Analytical and Testing Center and Application and Development Center of Analytical and Testing Technology.

Research Centre of Analytical Instruments is mainly responsible for the new product development, senior engineer, Mr. Shenghui Li and Dr. Shulong Zhang from Skyray Instrument are charging of it. Mr. Li, graduated from Xi’an Electronic Science and Technology University, has engaged in RD of analytical industries for 15 years; he is the senior expert in the research and development of XRF, ICP, AAS and other core parts. To assist the work of Mr. Li, Mr. Zhang, graduated from Tsinghua University, optical engineering, is the deputy director engineer of the Center.

Physical and Chemical Analytical and Testing Center is mainly responsible for the measurement of customers’ samples and the application of instruments. Application and Development Center of Analytical and Testing Technology is focusing on the study of analysis and application method for every instrument, Dr. Dongliang Yao is charging of it. Dr. Yao, graduated from Tsinghua University, department of engineering and physics, nuclear electronics, has engaged in analytical industries for 16 years and have achieved many fruitful results.

Skyray Academy of Analytical and Measuring Instruments is composed of 1 Academy of Sciences (strategic direction), 11 Doctors, 13 senior engineers, 17 masters and 50 R&D staffs from well-known universities.

Recent Plan

Continue to reinforce the research and development of XRF Spectrometer, ICP, AFS, GC, LC and other projects, striving to lead over the world-class level on 3 to 4 key projects in the world. Enhance the research and practice of physical and chemical analysis and to establish the complete RoHS testing, REACH service, toy, food, medicine, water and pollution-free agricultural products testing lines, striving to get the recognition of China National Accreditation Board for Conformity Assessment. At the same time, actively explore the new application and new proposal of the modern analytical techniques to create the new value for customers.

To participate in high-level international academic conferences, learn from researching and developing experiences of the world-famous enterprises in AFS, OES, UV Spectrometer, Mass Spectrometer, GC-MS, LC-MS and ICP. And to develop the cooperation with national research institutes, reaching agreements on joint development with senior experts.

Further introduce high-quality talents, including doctors and masters from the domestic and world well-known universities and institutes, and to provide them with good working and living environment. Increase the investment in research and development to set up high-standard specialized R&D labs, equipped with the necessary research and development facilities, related information and adequate funding for the difficult and high-level start-up experiments. The establishment of a complete incentive mechanism for scientific research will effectively stimulate the potential of researchers.

At present, Skyray Instrument has set up three research institutes, namely Suzhou Analytical Instruments Engineering Research Center, Skyray Technology Research Center and Skyray Academy of Analytical and Measuring Instruments.
